Hey friends. In case you didn’t know, I am an avid reader. Ever since I was a little girl, I thought you could find any answer to a question in a book. If there was something I wanted to know or figure out, then off to the library I went. There is just something about the quietness, smell of books and endless amounts of knowledge that I love when I’m at a library or book store. And even to this day, I still feel the same way. When a question or concern arises, off to Barnes & Noble or Amazon I go.
Now, I have to preface this post by saying this was really hard to do BUT I narrowed down my top 5 favorite books. Growing up in a single mother household where my mom had to work a lot, I found myself having to teach myself what I know about life. Through reading personal development books, I gained confidence about myself, was able to have a better grasp on who I was and what I wanted out of life. Call me crazy, but these where the questions I used to ask myself.
“What kind of life do I want to live?”
“Where do I want to live?” (I was not a fan of living in Florida at the time, I wanted mountains and four seasons!)
Who do I want to be when I grow up and how do I get there?
What does it take to be successful and what is success to me?
How can I be more confident in who I am and what I say?
What does a healthy and well balanced life look like?
The list could go on, but you probably get the point. Looking back now, I see that I was not happy with the hand life dealt me and I wanted to do everything in my power to change that.
And so I did… and I have these books here to thank for that.
Here are my top 5 favorite books on Personal Development.
4. How to Win Friends and Influence people
Every book above focuses on a different area of life; from how to let your guard down and connect with others, how to be more in control of your emotions, how to create and build a successful life and the tools you need to accomplish them. All of these books here have truly changed me as a person; as a friend, wife and mother.
I hope that you get as much out of them as I did!
